William T. Gealy, 71, died Tuesday, June 7, 2022. He was one of two children born to James and Marie (Olkoski) in Rockville Center, NY. He was raised in Levittown, NY and following graduation he worked for Western Electric as a telephone central office equipment installer in NYC. His work led him to Puerto Rico and later to Massachusetts, where he met his wife Christine. They settled in Danbury in 1979 where they raised their family. He earned his Master Electrician license and operated Gealy Electric for over 30 years. He performed commercial and residential electrical and telephone work throughout a four-state region and installed and removed many of the payphones in New Hampshire in the 1990s and 2000s. He was a member of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors, and looked forward to attending regional meetings.
William had a gift for fixing anything electrical or mechanical. He took pride in his work and in doing it right the first time. He kept up with changes to news and communication that the Internet brought during his lifetime, and he made time to write letters to advocate for change and acknowledge people for the work they were doing. He loved the summer season when he would set up the camper and pool and was grill master each weekend. Trips to Wellington State Park were favorite outings for him and the family.
He is survived by his wife, Christine (Gifford); son, James (Sara) Gealy; daughter Jessica (Jason) Loose; granddaughter Margot Loose; sister Diane Gealy Buchman.
Services will be private. Those wishing may make donations in his memory to the NH Humane Society, PO Box 572, Laconia, NH 03247.
