Thomas Upperman, 73, died Monday, February 13, 2023, at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston after a brief illness. Born in Cambridge, MA the son of John and Gabriella (Botelho) Upperman. At 14, the family moved to Westford where he graduated from Westford Academy. Following graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force. While home on leave, his brother introduced him to his future wife, Marcia Adams, and they soon married. Upon completion of his service, they settled in Westford. Tom was known as a hard worker. He worked for Honeywell, which became Lockhead Martin, and finally BAE. He was employed for a total of 32 years, about 25 years in the Lexington offices and his final years in Nashua, NH. Upon retirement in 2019, he and Marcia moved to New Hampton, NH.
Tom was a loving family man and a great outdoorsman. He enjoyed working on his property, caring for his garden, and baking for family. He also loved to hike and had completed all 48 4,000 footers in NH and was an avid geocacher, completing the New Hampshire and Massachusetts caches.
Family members include his wife, Marcia Upperman; son Craig (JoAnn) Upperman; grandchildren Hannah and Owen Upperman; siblings Jack (Cheryl) Upperman; Joseph Upperman; Tina (Richard) Dillon; Edna (Walter) Fletcher. He was predeceased by a brother Robert Upperman.
