Thomas Joseph Conway passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023, at Saint Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Home- where he was very well cared for over the past year and a half.
Born September 5, 1939, in Stoneham, MA, to Michael and Bridget (Kelly) Conway he was raised in Malden, MA. Tom graduated from Malden Catholic (Boys) High and Northeastern University. While in college he played baseball and worked at Mass Mental Health, a job he remembered often. Tom married Beverly (Driscoll) on August 19, 1961, and secured a teaching job in Dover NH where they moved and lived for 40 years. He was a social studies teacher for over 35 years at Dover High School where he coached several sports, but most importantly varsity baseball for over 30 years. Tom was a lover of all sports and was an avid fan of the Red Sox, Bruins, Patriots, and Celtics. Tom worked at UNH selling hockey tickets when his family was young, to help earn extra money- but also to be able to watch the games. He worked many “second” jobs to support his family- after teaching all day he would become the night custodian at Dover High as his three daughters were in college at the same time. His work ethic was definitely passed on to his daughters.
Tom served as the President and Vice President of the Dover Teachers’ Union for many years.
Tom and Bev moved to the Newfound Area full-time about 25 years ago, where he loved to garden and watch his grandchildren grow. This is when we really saw his sense of humor come out.
Tom was a parishioner at Saint Joseph’s Church while in Dover, NH, and later at Holy Trinity Parish, Bristol NH.
Beverly passed away 55 days before Tom- we are certain that she was yelling down to him to hurry up and get up there to be with her!
He is predeceased by his parents and sisters Ann Theresa McKay (TC) and Catherine Travers.
Tom is survived by daughters Tami Greig (Henry) of Stamford Ct, Annora M. Conway of Alexandria NH, and Deirdre B. Conway (Dale Robie) of Alexandria NH. Grandchildren Cameron and Olivia Greig and Brendan and Bridget Henss (who shares his birthday). Tom also leaves behind his beloved cat Tucker. He will be missed by many.
