Susan Killam Obituary

Susan M. Killam, 76, died Sunday, November 7, 2021 at home after a lengthy battle with senile dementia.  She was born in Wareham, Massachusetts, the daughter of Norman and Ruth (Cummings) Welch.  She grew up on the Cape in Sandwich, graduating from Sandwich High School and went on to earn a BS in English from UNH in 1967.  A week after graduation she married Jonathan Killam and moved to Okinawa where Jon was stationed.  When they returned from overseas, they settled in Londonderry for 28 years.  Susan taught kindergarten there and humanities and public speaking at the former New Hampshire College (now SNHU).  She later went on to work as an insurance broker with Fernandes Insurance in Manchester.  The family moved to Rollinsford for a period before buying a home in Bristol where they split their time until retirement.

Susan loved listening to folk music and reading.  She enjoyed cooking and sharing her creations with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jonathan Killam of Bristol; two children: Katrin Killam of Allenstown and David Killam of Northfield; a granddaughter Mikayla Killam of Northfield and a brother, Robert Welch of Sandwich, MA.
