Loraine J. ((LaCross)) Morel

HEBRON-Loraine J. Morel, 85, died Friday, September 29, 2023 at her home after a period of declining health.  Born in Westmore, VT, one of seven children of Raymond and Geneva (Jutras) LaCross.  She graduated from Orleans High School and then left the farm for the city of Manchester, NH.  At a Halloween party, Loraine met Albert and the two became great friends.  They eventually married and spent almost 55 years together since.  Loraine began a 25 year career in the Accounting Department of New England Telephone Company, which by the time of her retirement, was known as Verizon. 

In 1974, Loraine and Albert, purchased a property in Hebron, which they would spend their weekends excavating by hand, placing a foundation, and then renovating the entire interior. 

Loraine held a passion for gardening delicately nurturing up to eight extensive beds at one time.  She coaxed them from their first bud and appearance in the early spring to the last lingering flower in the last days of fall.  Given the opportunity, Loraine enjoyed travel through Europe, Italy, France and throughout the US. 

Family members include her husband, Albert Morel of Hebron, two sisters Lucille Towle of Vermont and Lorette Gathright of Oregon, many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by four brothers. 

Services-A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 9, 2023 at 11am at the Emmons Funeral Home, 115 South Main St., Bristol.  Interment will follow in the Hebron Village Cemetery.  While Loraine was alive, she loved flowers; however, at this time, please consider a donation in her memory to the Hebron Firefighters Association, 37 Groton Rd, Hebron, NH 03241.
