Josephine Edith (Shappell) Nichols

FRANKLIN ---- Josephine Edith Nichols, passed away on her 96th birthday, November 21, 2025, at Peabody Place in Franklin, NH.

Josephine was born on November 21, 1929, in East Lansing, MI, the daughter of Stanley and Dora (Smith) Shappell.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting and gardening. She loved to sing and was a member of the New Hampshire Festive Chorus for more than 20 years and Lakes Region Singers for 12 years.

She is survived by her sons, Andrew Nichols of Plymouth, NH, Ralph Nichols of Fuquay Varina, NC, Whitney Nichols of Brattleboro, VT and Philip Nichols of Santa Fe, NM, her brother William Shappell and several nieces, nephews and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Josephine was predeceased by her daughters Nancy Stearns and Catherine Whitney, her sisters Helen Jackson and Margaret Gordon and her brothers Donald Shappell and Duane Shappell.
